Nobody expected the familiar legend to have a new witness. At the fairground, the folklore did not need a rewrite to become extreme: The Devil’s Footprints. After snow fell in Devon in 1855, unusual hoof-like tracks were reported across a wide area; folklore attributed them to the Devil.
